DJ Quik revealed late Friday night (Sept. 24) that he is releasing new music momentarily, and he dropped with a new song called “Black Friday.” Listen to it above.
The single talks about the race relations in the country, asking one of the most asked questions why are the police killing so many black people. The single calls for unity and self-love, spitting, “Ain’t no good or bad hair, only fine or coarse hair/That is so divisive, why do my sisters care?
Quik also suggest what Tupac would do if he was still here: “If Pac was here, he’d write a song that would calm ya down/And I would maybe produce it, give it that Compton sound/He only haunts me now, I seen the truth and further/He knew them rap magazines would instigate his murder.”
Black Friday is a song that the streets needs right now, hopefully we can get more songs like this from the Compton legend in the future.
